About Us

Thanks for visiting our website! I'm Michelle and live in Connecticut with my husband, Tony and daughter Abbey.
Abbey is two years old and I've been married to Tony for over 17 wonderful years.

I love to sew and embroider. Its like a form of meditation for me. My husband remodelled the attic for me to use as my sewing room and I love having my own space to work.

Each item I make is never rushed. I find a kind of peace when I work and this peace is poured into every item I make.

Here is our birth story for anyone who is interested...

We tried for around ten years to have a baby, nothing worked. Eventually we gave up, heartbroken. In 2004 we were so excited (and surprised!) to learn I was pregnant. I had planned on a totally natural childbirth with no medication and no medical intervention.

After a very difficult pregnancy, Abbey arrived three weeks early. I had a much needed emergency C-Section that saved my life and my daughter's. I was unconcious for three days following the birth of my daughter and the doctors told my husband they didnt think I was going to survive (liver failure). I eventually woke up and was able to hold my baby girl.
The people at the hospital were amazing....the nurses even held her to my breasts to get her to nurse while I was unconcious. When that didnt work, they fed her with a small cup so she wouldn't get nipple confused if/when I woke up and was able to nurse. These people were wonderful!

Two weeks later I had another abdominal surgery, along with a bout of pnemonia. It took four months for my wound to heal.

We also had a very hard time breastfeeding. I had to pump for over two months because of the extreme pain. I finally found a wonderful breastfeeding doctor and she cured me in two weeks! I'm so fortunate that my daughter was patient and still wanted to nurse after that long. We're still nursing today!

When my daugher was two months old, my husband (then age 40) had a stroke. He couldnt see very well and was out of work for over 8 months. He still gets a ride to work, but is starting to drive more around town.

Its been very rough, but we're so grateful that our family is still together and getting stronger every day.
Of course, Abbey is the biggest joy in our life!
I feel very fortunate that I can work from home to be with her. Sometimes she even helps me sew! (okay, so she just reprograms my machine on me and takes all my fabric out of their bins...at least she's interested!)
